The flight they did not take

A charter operator whose risk assessment told them to reschedule. The airport closed shortly afterwards.

“Our old system was too rigid and didn’t allow us to customize our safety protocols to fit our specific needs. We needed a more flexible and comprehensive solution.”

A process that fitted the software

Exec1's previous system came as it was. Safety protocols could not be shaped around how the operation actually runs, which meant the process fitted the software rather than the flying, and the people doing the flying were the ones absorbing the difference.

Making it theirs

Risk assessment templates were adapted to the operation, so the questions asked are the ones that matter for the trips Exec1 actually flies. That is the part that decides whether an assessment is a judgment or a formality.

“We chose RISE for its ease of use. It quickly integrated into our operations and provided the flexibility we needed.”
Steve, Director of Operations

Whether the pilots will use it

A risk assessment nobody completes tells you nothing, so the test of one is whether a crew can finish it without friction on the day everything else is going wrong.

“The process is straightforward, and our pilots never have trouble submitting reports. It’s super efficient and effective.”
Ella Osterkamp, Charter Coordinator and Safety Manager

The flight they did not take

A trip to Kansas City International was scheduled into hard winter conditions. The risk assessment scored it above what Exec1 are willing to accept, and they rescheduled rather than fly it. The airport closed shortly afterwards.

The decision is the point, and so is the fact that there is a record of it. A score that a crew can show is a different conversation with a customer than a feeling somebody had.

“The FRAT score showed the flight was too risky, and our decision to reschedule was validated when the airport closed shortly after.”
Steve, Director of Operations

Looking across the scores

Past assessments are there to compare against, and the criteria behind them are Exec1's to change. A score means more on its tenth use than its first, because by then there is something to read it against.

“The ability to analyze past FRAT scores and customize criteria has been crucial for us. It keeps everyone informed and engaged in maintaining our safety standards.”
Steve, Director of Operations

Where it leaves them

Risk management that the crews take part in rather than submit to, with the assessments shaped around the operation and the history to read each new one against.

“RISE has been a game-changer for us. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and has significantly streamlined our safety operations.”

The result

What came of it

  • 01Assessments shaped around the operation rather than the other way round
  • 02Reporting that pilots do not struggle with
  • 03Past scores available to compare against
  • 04A documented basis for a decision not to fly
